Since the 1890s, the Hotel Reine Victoria in St. Moritz has combined history, art and hospitality. From aristocratic spa destination to modern 4-star residence, every detail—from Nicolaus Hartmann’s architecture to Antonio De Grada’s ornate ceiling paintings—tells of elegance, culture and unforgettable encounters of times gone by.
The history of the house in pictures
1874-1875
Construction & opening of Hotel Viktoria
The hotel’s history began in 1874: Architect Nicolaus Hartmann lent his signature style to the building, creating not just a hotel, but a new lifestyle for the time. The hotel opened in 1875 under the name Hotel Viktoria.
1896/97
Picturesque by Antonio De Grada
The ceiling design of the lobby and the theater hall is the work of Antonio De Grada, a sought-after artist and decorator of the Swiss upper class, whose works are situated between Art Nouveau, Symbolism and Historicism.
1927
Relocation of the hotel entrance to the north side
In order to meet new comfort standards, the hotel was partially remodeled and the reception area was enlarged. The entrance was moved to the Via Rosatsch side, as there were more parking and access options for tourists.
2015
Takeover of the lease by Laudinella AG
Laudinella AG took over the operation of the hotel as leaseholder.
2022
Acquisition by Laudinella AG
The hotel was sold to a group of investors, Laudinella remained the long-term leaseholder and a minority stake was acquired.Sustainability
