Summer
Experience summer in the Engadin
Hiking
Hiking with a view
Exploring the Engadin on foot has a very special charm. Over 580 kilometers of marked trails lead through contrasting landscapes, from blooming alpine meadows to rugged cliffs and icy glaciers.
If you would like to be accompanied, you can book guided tours with our guide Johnny Beyeler.
The mountain railroads take you comfortably to the hiking areas around Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza or Muottas Muragl—ideal starting points for high-altitude trails with impressive views.
Climbing & mountaineering
Mountain adventure in the Engadin
Whether it’s the first metres of altitude or a challenging high-altitude tour: The Engadin offers a wide variety of options for anyone who enjoys hiking uphill. From easy hiking trails to glacier routes through the Bernina region—there is a suitable route for everyone. For climbers, there are routes such as La Resgia or Piz Trovat, climbing gardens in the countryside and, in bad weather, the climbing hall in S-Chanf. Beginners can learn about techniques and equipment on courses at the Pontresina mountaineering school.
Cycling & mountain biking
Biking in the Engadin—sporty or enjoyable
Over 400 kilometers of bike trails make the Engadin a versatile destination for leisure cyclists and sports enthusiasts.
Single trails, panoramic trails and flow trails such as the WM, Foppettas and Corviglia trails offer variety for all levels.
Our tip: An early morning ascent to Piz Nair with breakfast in the summit restaurant – followed by a descent with far-reaching views.
Bathing lakes
Refreshment at the mountain lake
Around St. Moritz, the Lej da Staz and Lej Marsch invite you to swim on warm summer days.
One with wooden walkways and calm water, the other with a sandy beach and barbecue area—both charming, close to nature and ideal for families.
Water sports
The Engadine way
Sailing, surfing, stand-up paddling or rafting in summer, the Engadin lakes and the Inn offer sporting experiences on the water.
The Maloja wind provides perfect conditions for sailing and kitesurfing at midday.
In the morning, SUPs and kayaks glide almost silently across the water an invitation to slow down.
For the more adventurous, the Inn offers rapid rafting passages and Lake Silvaplana offers colorful wind images.
Fishing
Time at clear mountain lakes
From May to September, the lakes around St. Moritz offer the best conditions for fishing – whether with a fly on Lej Nair or by boat on Lake Silvaplana.
Daily permits for bank or river fishing are available from the St. Moritz Fishing Inspectorate.
